Computer can't connect to external display via docking, how to use docking stations
Docking stations are used as hubs for charging laptops, supporting USB functionality, and connecting to external displays. A common issue with docking stations is that the laptop is not connected to the external display, and nothing is showing. A possible cause could be that the monitor is not being recognized by the computer. Try these troubleshooting steps:
1. Restart your laptop.
2. Disconnect the laptop and reconnect it back to the docking station
3. Check on the cables connected to the monitor and display. See if there are any cables damaged or dented. Disconnect and reconnect them back in if possible.
4. Power cycle the docking station by powering it off. Turn it off and then on to see if the monitor can be recognized.
These are the docking stations used shown below and how they connect to the computer. You can disconnect and reconnect your laptop to them.
